Widening participation grant for Museum of Life Sciences and Anatomy Department

Dr Gillian Sales, curator of the Museum of Life Sciences and the Department of Anatomy have been jointly awarded a grant for their project ‘Inspiring Aspiration in Science’ from Widening Participation at King's College London.

This project will develop science-based teaching resources for 10-14 year olds to use in the Museum of Life Sciences, alongside delivering a series of workshops to pupils in years 7-9.

Hands-on Anatomy Academy June 23 to July 23

The Anatomy Department is offering students at King's College London a unique opportunity to develop and refine dissection skills and knowledge in a free-of-charge 4 weeks summer academy. The course focuses on practical dissection skills for the development of topographical and applied anatomical knowledge. 

Application by June 15th can be made to Mandeep Gill via the virtual campus.

Queen's Birthday Honour for Professor Susan Standring

Professor Susan Standring, former Head of the Anatomy Department, now Emeritus Professor and Editor-in-Chief of Gray's Anatomy received an MBE in this year's Birthday Honours.

Two Anatomical Society Summer Studentship successes

The Anatomical Society has awarded Summer Studentships to two undergraduate students in the Anatomy Department 

• Toby Andrews "The developmental basis of branchial anomalies" to work with Professor Anthony Graham
• Tom Baxter "A genetic anatomy of the inhibitory neurons in the avian first order auditory nuclei" to work with Dr Richard Wingate

Service of Thanksgiving for Body Donation: May 15th

The annual service of thanksgiving for all who donated their bodies to medical and biomedical education will be held at Southwark Cathedral at 11 am on Friday May 15th. The service is organised by the London Anatomy Office on behalf of the London and South East Committee of Anatomists
